Google Meet & Google Hangouts

Google Meet & Google Hangouts

Here are a few resources to help you meet with colleagues, students, or parents.  Try them out on a small scale before trying a larger meeting.

Google Meet - Laptop/Chromebooks/Phone
Use the following website: meet.google.com
  • Video meetings up to 25 people
  • Easy to share screens with one another and/or video chat
  • Messaging feature which allows you to chat & share links
  • Tutorial:
Tried this out with both middle and high school students on their chromebooks and it worked great!  I actually started from the Google hangout website and it forced me to use Google Meet.  Very easy to share my screen and/video of myself.  The students can do the same.  I just recommend testing it first to work out bugs.

Google Hangouts - Phone
Download the app from the Google Play or Apple Store. It is called Hangouts by Google LLC.
  • Send invites by phone number or email.
  • Great for 1-on-1 conversations or small group chats/calls
  • Tutorial:
I've used this with a few staff already and some family members. Great way to keep in touch by video chat or messaging.  It uses wifi instead of your minutes!  Also, it can be nice to troubleshoot something if you need to physically see what someone is struggling with.

Google Hangouts - Laptop/Chromebooks
Use the following website: hangouts.google.com
  • Send invites via email or phone number.
  • If you use the video call button it will kick you over to the Google Meet website (which is also on this email).
  • This option is best for messaging.
  • Hangouts is also available within your Gamil in the bottom left corner.
